Review by Jewish Concerns

Alfredo Kraus, the legendary tenor, has left a lasting legacy with his remarkable performances in the world of opera. The album Live In Las Palmas, which was recorded in 1997, showcases his vocal prowess and artistry in a live concert with the Orquesta Filarmónica De Gran Canaria.

The album opens with the overture from Rossini's "Il Barbiere di Siviglia," which sets the tone for an evening of exquisite music-making. Kraus then launches into a series of arias from operas such as "La Traviata," "Rigoletto," and "Don Giovanni." His voice is clear, powerful, and expressive, effortlessly conveying the emotions of the characters he portrays.

The orchestral accompaniment, conducted by Pedro Halffter, is equally impressive. The Orquesta Filarmónica De Gran Canaria provides a rich and vibrant sound, adding depth and texture to the already beautiful melodies. The musicians' meticulous attention to detail is evident in every note they play, making for an unforgettable performance.

One of the highlights of the album is Kraus's rendition of "Nessun Dorma" from Puccini's "Turandot." His interpretation of this iconic aria is nothing short of breathtaking, showcasing his mastery of the bel canto style and his ability to convey the drama and passion of the music.
