Favourite Worst Nightmare, the second studio album by Arctic Monkeys, is a stunning follow-up to their hugely successful debut album. Released in 2007, the album showcases the band's evolution and growth as musicians, with a more polished sound and intricate instrumentation.

The album starts off with the explosive track "Brianstorm," which sets the tone for the rest of the record. The band's signature sound of catchy guitar riffs, pounding drums, and Alex Turner's distinctive vocals are evident throughout the album. Tracks like "Teddy Picker" and "D is for Dangerous" are energetic and catchy, while "505" showcases the band's softer side with a beautiful melody and poignant lyrics.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Fluorescent Adolescent," a nostalgic and bittersweet song about growing up and the struggles of adulthood. The track features a memorable guitar riff and Turner's emotive vocals, making it one of the band's most beloved songs.

"Favourite Worst Nightmare" is one of the most powerful and badass record I've ever listened. Powerful and badass (sorry for this word, but it's the only word that comes in my mind) not properly for its sound and genre (Heavy Metal or Trash Metal are surely more rough and aggressives) but for the explosive energy that flows through every song.Arctic Monkeys play each track with the same verve and vitality: the pounding drum, the rough guitars, the pulsating bass and the megaphoned voice make this album a discharge of electricity that runs through your ears.Alex Turner can be considered as one of the indie rock's icons, alongside Thom Yorke and Julian Casablancas. This because he has understood what indie rock is: it's the young generation's voice. So his songs are crackling and sparkling, with dazzling peaks like "Brainstorm", "Teddy Picker", "Flourescent Adolescent", "Old Yellow Bricks" and the pseudo-gothic "505".But if on one hand the music is juvenile and stimulant, on the other hand the lyrics are mature and deeply emotional. They are reflections about being a teenager and a young adult: doubts, problems, tribulations of love and other themes.The Arctic Monkeys's second outcome, after the boom of their debut ("Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not") is unexpected and astonishing. What a pity that the smell of money has trasformed the new indie's champions in yet another commercial rock-band!
