This album is a true masterpiece that delivers a powerful and moving musical experience.

The album features a stunning performance of Benjamin Britten's Saint Nicholas, a cantata that tells the story of the life and miracles of the patron saint of sailors and children. The piece is performed by Robert Tear, one of the greatest tenors of his generation, who delivers a breathtaking performance that captures the spirit and emotion of the piece.

The King's College Choir Of Cambridge and Cambridge Girls' Choir also deliver outstanding performances on this album, with their beautiful harmonies and impeccable vocal control. The Academy Of St MartinintheFields provides a rich and vibrant orchestral accompaniment that perfectly complements the choir's vocals.

The album is expertly conducted by Sir Neville Marriner, who brings out the best in each performer and creates a cohesive and powerful sound. David Willcocks' contributions as the album's producer and editor are also noteworthy, as he has ensured that every aspect of the recording is of the highest quality.

About Benjamin Britten, Robert Tear, Bruce Russell , Sir Neville Marriner, David Willcocks, The King's College Choir Of Cambridge, Cambridge Girls' Choir, The Academy Of St MartinintheFields

British composer, conductor, and pianist. Born: November 22, 1913, in Lowestoft, UK - died: December 04, 1976, in Aldeburgh, UK. He showed talent from an early age, and first came to public attention with the a cappella choral work A Boy Was Born in 1934. With the premiere of his opera Peter Grimes in 1945, he leapt to international fame. For the next fifteen years he devoted much of his compositional attention to writing operas, establishing him as one of the leading 20th century figures in this genre. Britten's interests as a composer were wide-ranging; he produced important music in such varied genres as orchestral, choral, solo vocal (much of it written for the tenor Peter Pears), chamber and instrumental, as well as film music. He also took a great interest in writing music for children and amateur performers, and was a fine pianist and conductor. One of Britten's most important works, The War Requiem was completed 20 December 1961, and first performed 30 May 1962. Britten received many prizes and honors, including becoming a Companion of Honour in 1952, and a member of the Order of Merit in 1965.
