Paul Calle print! I have that one. Love his art! Have a few prints.
In '69 I was 30 yrs old. I met my wife in '75. Her dad lived on Hogback Mt. I sang this song to her but changed the words to reflect where she and her daddy lived and used her daddy's name. She still remembers this after 46 years of marriage.
Thought of this song, I had a Dr Wolverton at the VA in INdy
I was 9 when this song was popular on the radio the jukebox. Dad was in the Navy. He had a favorite cafe that he drank at and brought the family one of his shipmates was also a drinking buddy. His drinking buddy played this song on the jukebox over and over. It's still one of my favorites. I just looked it up on here because I haven't heard it in a while. I'm putting it on my karaoke song list right now.
Great song from the 60's. Love how it was meant to be.
Now that’s old time country!
Written and also sung by Merle kilgore. His uncle was Clifton Clowers!

Love this song
My late father loved this piece. He asked me to find the lyrics for him one day, and thanks to google, I was able to satisfy his longing to remember his favorite song lyrics. Then I played it for him!
I would sit on my dad's lap and he would sing this to me. He was my Clifton Clowers! He is in heaven watching over me now. This was a nice surprise!
This song would have had a really different vibe if they had featured it in the movie Deliverance. ;-)
I am 72, first time I heard this song we were at Beech Ridge Speedway in Scarborough, Maine. Another song was Thunder Road by Robert Mitchem.
Loed this song back in the day.
My brother just mentioned this song to me. I’d completely forgotten about it. My dad would have it on in the family conversion van on road trips playing through the tape deck on a mix tape. It’s such a good song but I feel out of place here as I’m only 22 haha.
