Great
the master
Sublime
This was suggested by someone in the comments section of Katherine Priddy - Eurydice.
Standing firm on this stony ground
The wind blows hard
Pulls these clothes around
I harbour all the same worries as most
The temptations to leave or to give up the ghost
I wrestle with an outlook on life
That shifts between darkness and shadowy light
I struggle with words for fear that they'll hear
But Orpheus sleeps on his back still dead to the world
Sunlight falls, my wings open wide
There's a beauty here I cannot deny
And bottles that tumble and crash on the stairs
Are just so many people I knew never cared
Down below on the wreck of the ship
Are a stronghold of pleasures I couldn't regret
But the baggage is swallowed up by the tide
As Orpheus keeps to his promise and stays by my side
Tell me, I've still a lot to learn
Understand, these fires never stop
Believe me, when this joke is tired of laughing
I will hear the promise of my Orpheus sing
Sleepers sleep as we row the boat
Just you the weather and I gave up hope
But all of the hurdles that fell in our laps
Were fuel for the fire and straw for our backs
Still the voices have stories to tell
Of the power struggles in heaven and hell
But we feel secure against such mighty dreams
As Orpheus sings of the promise tomorrow may bring
Tell me, I've still a lot to learn
Understand, these fires never stop
Please believe, when this joke is tired of laughing
I will hear the promise of my Orpheus sing
The wind blows hard
Pulls these clothes around

Sublime
Wonderful song and video.
The aesthetics and the atmosphere that emerges from the video and the song are reminiscent of the spectral universe of Vaughan Oliver ( R.I.P. ) of 23 envelope and Ivo Watts Russel of 4AD.
Thank you for this treasure, Mr. Sylvian.

Sheer brilliance, the entire album
The perfect song.
I hope David Sylvian will make one more album duetting with John Cale.
Can you believe this didn't chart in the UK when it was released as a single in '88? Absolutely criminal.
Still magnificent, all these year's after buying it without ever hearing it. Str8 out the Delivery box, Kellies Record's High St, Brentwood. When it had propper shop's.
Most beautiful voice in solar system.. Music.. Lyrics.. So delicate.. Sylvian.. Pure esoteric beauty..
novembre 2020 e ancora qui ad ascoltare questo capolavoro
This is seriously as good as it gets!
I knew His music through much music videos in 1999 , a little late but not so much...then i bought secrets of the behive ,gone to earth and brilliant trees on cd, and after heard those 3 , i became fan instantly....greetings from buenos Aires Argentina
SYLVIAN先生の楽曲でも3本指に入るかという名曲ですね。JAPAN解散は残念でしたが、このような曲を生み出してくれるなら否定は出来ない訳です。あーいい声。
Great, great voice. I particularly like 'Waterfront'. I'm 49 but I must say that Japan were always beyond me, a step too far. I was more Human League, OMD etc. But the band that blew me away were Talk Talk, especially The Colour of Spring. Thank you, Mr Hollis, this day and every day.
What a masterpiece of a sound...it somehow aches of nostalgia
One of the most under-rated song-writer of all time. This Musica Reservata is strictly for privileged ears only.

"la baie palpite de toutes ces écailles argentées, comme le corps d'un poisson gris-bleu dont le gigantisme en sa souplesse épouse les moindres contours des rives hospitalières qui l'accueillent.Lande et cavale, la mer et le poisson, au coeur de ce paysage fluide et minéral, se rejoignent et se soudent grâce à l'unité rêveuse ..."(robert Mallet "Ellynn")
Great how the imagery fits with the album artwork
Perfect. Although David thought the song rather commercial. Of course he did. Hoping for another Beautiful book mark from DS. Apparently he has retired. Hearsay. Artist Always Artist and Loved, so Loved .
Who wrote this song's melody?
David Sylvian - soul of the soul.
