Review by asaki nailist

Moana Akahi Ahoi Wailana is a delightful album by De Kilima Hawaiians that captures the essence of traditional Hawaiian music. The album features a mix of lively and soothing melodies, showcasing the band's exceptional talent and love for their Hawaiian heritage.

The album opens with the upbeat track "Moana Akahi Ahoi Wailana," which sets the tone for the rest of the album. The band's harmonies are impeccable, and the instrumentation is superb, with the ukulele, guitar, and steel guitar all taking turns to shine.

The album also features some slower, more contemplative tracks, such as "Pua Lililehua" and "Kawika," which allow the listener to truly appreciate the beauty of the Hawaiian language and culture. The vocals on these tracks are particularly moving, with the band members' voices blending together in perfect harmony.

About De Kilima Hawaiians

Dutch band, which got started by Bill Buysman in 1934 as "Kilima Hawaiian Trio". In 1936 he was joined by his wife . They had their first recordings in 1941, which made them already quite successful in a very short time. In 1942 bass player joined the trio and the band changed name to "The Kilima Hawaiians". Under this new setting they had their greatest moments of success, during the late 1940s and 1950s. They got back into the picture in the late 1960s when they were exclusively signed by CBS/Artone. In the meantime some new artists joined the band and some band members left and were replaced by new people. Their last release with original work came out in the 1970s. Afterwards only compilation albums with previously recorded material got released
