About Gerry & The Pacemakers
Gerry and the Pacemakers were a British beat group prominent during the 1960s. Like The Beatles, they came from Liverpool and were managed by Brian Epstein. The group was comprised of Gerry Marsden, Freddie Marsden, Les Chadwick, and Arthur McMahon (aka Arthur Mack), who was replaced on piano by Les Maguire in 1961. They are the second most successful group from Liverpool to hit the U.S. pop charts behind the Beatles.

On this day in 1964 {February 6th} "I'm The One" by Gerry and the Pacemakers peaked at #2 {for 2 weeks} the United Kingdom's Official Top 50 Singles* chart, for the two weeks it was at #2, the #1 record for both those weeks was "Needles and Pins" by the Searchers...
Bill Joel did write this song. Gerry's version here was a live performance from a concert ... about 1981 ... cos in the concert he sang Imagine and referred to John Lennon being killed the previous year
I thought Billy Joel wrote this? But I think this was way before him, anyone?
