About James Cleveland Presents The Voices Of Christ
Born December 5, 1931, Reverend James Cleveland was an American gospel singer, musician, arranger, composer, and choir leader. Known as the King of Gospel music, Cleveland was a driving force behind the creation of the modern gospel sound by incorporating traditional black gospel, soul, pop, and jazz in arrangements for mass choirs. Throughout his career, Cleveland appeared on hundreds of recordings and earned 4 Grammy Awards. He was the first gospel musician to earn a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1984. For his trailblazing accomplishments, he is regarded by many to be one of the greatest gospel singers that ever lived. He is best known for his gospel classics, "Lord, Help Me To Hold Out," "Peace Be Still," "I Don't Feel No Ways Tired

This is one of the best solo performances of the late Rev. James Cleveland. Thank you posting this classic. As we pay tribute the life of Gospel music pioneer Lady Helen Stephen, this selection is one of the songs that has always minister to me on in my life. Have peace in knowing Lady Helen Stephens is now in that place that the righteous can call home.
So beautiful the way he sings this sing different with each choir. I love his style. James Cleveland set the stage for many musicians and singers.

Truly gospel: calm, solemn, voices being the most important part of the song, no need to scream trying to be aware.
This song has a special place in my heart. It was one of the first songs I learned as a new Christian, back in 1971. My choir at Friendship Baptist Church sang it. I didn't know that it was scripture, so not only did I learn a great song, but I learned a passage of scripture.
Great american ole school black gospel. No need to scream, only using the throat in perfect way, and a Hammond to make it superb!
