- Made in New Zealand.
- First pressings of the New Zealand 7" Single were incorrectly labelled. The track length for 'Ghosts' was printed as 5:18 and 'The Art of Parties', as 3:55. This version was issued with Virgin standard red/green inserts.
- ℗ 1981 Virgin Records Limited is on Side B of the disc.
- ℗ 2013 Virgin Records Limited & © 2013 Virgin Records Limited is on the sticker.
- Comparing to the original picture disc the differences are:
- 1) No track times shown on Side B
- 2) All references to the old catalogue number have been removed
- 3) The image is grey on the new version rather than slightly sepia-toned on the original - though this may be due to ageing.
- 4) The text on Side B is enlarged compared to the original, probably because the track times no longer need to be shown.
- First pressings of the New Zealand 12" single were incorrectly labelled. The track length for Ghosts was printed as 5:18 and The Art of Parties, as 3:55 and came with Virgin standard red/green labels.
- The New Zealand 12" was released with the UK picture sleeve and included a sticker indicating "Imported Cover. Special. Very Limited Edition".
- A 5" Flexi-Disc manufactured in Russia by some obscure plant in the 90's in Limited Quantities. These were manufactured in different colours; this edition being a Light-Blue Acetate and single-sided; there is no B-side.
- The song is 'Japan' and has been taken from the 1981 recording of the Album Tin Drum. However, neither the Acetate nor Paper-Sleeve has the markings 'Live'. The sound of the recording is quite average and mono.
- The Light-Blue Acetate comes with a simple greyscale cover which has been printed on plain paper. This is a Collectors' item for Completists who must have literally everything 'JAPAN'; this is NOT a record for digital sound lovers or glossy covers admirers.
- There are also copies of this 7" that incorrectly list the track length for Ghosts as being 5.18 and Art of Parties as 3.55: Ghosts

About Japan
New wave, art rock, synth pop band, formed in London, England in early 1974.
Japan comprised David Sylvian (vocals), his brother Steve Jansen (drums), Richard Barbieri (keyboards) and Mick Karn (saxophone/bass). Rob (Robert) Dean joined the line-up as guitarist and the band subsequently won a recording contract with the German record company Ariola-Hansa. Eminently unfashionable in the UK punk era, they first found success in Japan.
After three albums with Ariola-Hansa, they switched to Virgin Records in 1980 and found their fortunes dramatically improving thanks to the surge of popularity in the New Romantic movement. Japan's androgynous image made them suddenly fashionable and they registered several UK Top 20 singles. Their albums Gentlemen Take Polaroids (1980) and Tin Drum (1981) were also well received. Rob Dean left the band after Gentlemen Take Polaroids but continued working with the band for one more tour thereafter.
Disagreements between Karn and Sylvian undermined the band's progress just as they were achieving some long-overdue success, and they split in late 1982. The members diversified into collaborative work and solo careers, reuniting (minus Dean) in 1991 for a project under the moniker of Rain Tree Crow.
