Review by Natasha Papousek

Tiger Rag, the debut album of La Rocca, is a remarkable collection of indie rock songs that showcase the band's diverse musical influences and impressive songwriting skills. Released in 2006, the album features 11 tracks that range from upbeat, catchy tunes to introspective ballads.

The title track, "Tiger Rag," sets the tone for the album with its driving rhythm, infectious melody, and clever lyrics. It's followed by "Sketches (20 Something Life)," a wistful reflection on the struggles and joys of young adulthood that features a soaring chorus and intricate guitar work.

Other standout tracks include "This Life," a bittersweet love song with a haunting piano melody, and "Non-Believer," a moody, atmospheric track that builds to a powerful crescendo. Throughout the album, lead singer Bjorn Baillie's distinctive voice and thoughtful lyrics shine, backed by the tight musicianship of guitarist Nick Haworth, bassist Simon Baillie, and drummer Alan Redmond.
