Review by mohammed sharabi

Sonates pour Piano by Ludwig van Beethoven is a masterpiece of classical music. The album comprises 32 sonatas, and it is an exceptional collection of Beethoven's piano works. The pianist's technical and artistic abilities are on full display in this album, and it is a must-have for anyone who appreciates classical music.

The album begins with the famous Sonata No. 1 in F minor, which is a perfect introduction to Beethoven's style. The sonata is full of emotion and depth, and the pianist's skillful playing brings out every nuance of the piece. As the album progresses, the listener is taken on a journey through Beethoven's life, with each sonata representing a different phase of his career.

The album's standout pieces include Sonata No. 8 in C minor, also known as the "Pathetique," Sonata No. 14 in C sharp minor, also known as the "Moonlight," and Sonata No. 23 in F minor, also known as the "Appassionata." These sonatas are some of Beethoven's most famous and are performed regularly in concerts and recitals all over the world.

German composer and pianist, born in 1770 (baptized 17 December 1770) in Bonn, Germany and died 26 March 1827 in Vienna, Austria. A crucial figure in the transition between the Classical and Romantic eras in classical music. Beethoven led Viennese Classicism to its highest development and paved the way for Romantic music. Beethoven was the eldest son of a singer in the Kapelle of the Archbishop-Elector of Cologne and grandson of the Archbishop's Kapellmeister. He moved in 1792 to Vienna, where he had some lessons from Haydn and others, quickly establishing himself as a remarkable keyboard-player and original composer. By 1815 increasing deafness made public performance impossible and accentuated existing eccentricities of character, patiently tolerated by a series of rich patrons and his royal pupil the Archduke Rudolph. Beethoven did much to enlarge the possibilities of music and widen the horizons of later generations of composers. To his contemporaries he was sometimes a controversial figure, making heavy demands on listeners both by the length and by the complexity of his writing, as he explored new fields of music.

Not even 1000 hits for one of the greatest Beethoven players of all time! No, everyone is listening to that idiot Glenn Gould or the schizophrenic Richter instead of the following-the-composer Rudy. But the world will never learn.

I don’t care what anyone else says. Serkin is the best Beethoven interpreter ever, especially on this piece and a number of others. Transcendent!
