The performances on this album are truly exceptional, with the soloists and chorus delivering powerful and emotive renditions of the music.

The album features the great bass Boris Christoff in the title role, and he delivers a performance that is both commanding and nuanced. His voice is rich and expressive, and he brings a great depth of emotion to the character of Boris. The other soloists on the album, including tenor Nicolai Gedda and baritone Tom Krause, are equally impressive, and they all bring a great sense of drama and intensity to their roles.
