Review by Justin Andersun

Cross Collateral by Passport is a jazz fusion album that is a must-have for any jazz enthusiast. The album was released in 1975 and is the ninth studio album by the German jazz group. The album is a perfect representation of the band's unique sound, which blends jazz, rock, and funk in a way that is both innovative and exciting.

The album features eight tracks, each of which showcases the band's incredible musicianship. The opening track, "Bahia Praia," is a high-energy track that sets the tone for the rest of the album. The track features a driving rhythm section, soaring saxophone solos, and intricate guitar work.

Other standout tracks on the album include "Homunculus," a funky tune that features a catchy bassline and a memorable melody, and "Cross Collateral," a fusion of rock and jazz that features a blistering guitar solo.

To me Passport's Cross-Collateral is a perfect blend of Jazz and Electronic Prog Rock. Sort of a John Coltrane meets Emerson Lake and Palmer sans vocals. The songs have both heavy synth and saxophone, much of the sax sounds improvised as well. Everyone is in the band is a top notch player and the engineering is as good as anything either Alan Parsons or Eddy Offord has worked on. There are other Passport albums that have plenty of great work but this album is their pinnacle effort. Every song stands on it's own. It's been a favorite of mine since the first time I heard it in 1975, and the cover art ain't bad either.
