Quintette Of The Hot Club Of France - Oriental Shuffle After Youve

Review by Graham Watkins

The album Oriental Shuffle After Youve by Quintette Of The Hot Club Of France is a classic jazz record that showcases the talent and virtuosity of the musicians in the band. Led by the legendary guitarist Django Reinhardt and violinist Stephane Grappelli, the quintet delivers a delightful mix of swing, gypsy jazz, and Eastern-inspired melodies that transport the listener to a bygone era of jazz.

From the opening track "Oriental Shuffle," with its infectious rhythm and catchy melody, to the hauntingly beautiful "Nuages," the album is a joy to listen to from start to finish. The musicianship of Reinhardt and Grappelli is simply outstanding, with their intricate solos and harmonies weaving together seamlessly to create a rich and vibrant sound.

Other standout tracks on the album include "After You've Gone," a swinging rendition of the classic jazz standard, and "Swing 39," a lively tune that showcases the quintet's improvisational skills. The album also features several original compositions by Reinhardt and Grappelli, such as "Django's Tiger" and "Stephane's Tune," which highlight their unique musical styles and contributions to the genre.

Great foxtrot! Watch my video with this foxtrot by Mario Lorenzi and his orch. It's recorded on 1950-s soviet record. https://youtu.be/A0v_DM67C1o

I love this post and I thank you for sharing it.

i'm so excited that you're posting le hot club on here!! i don't comment as much as i should, but i really do appreciate your work in making all of this historic music available to the public, it helps people like me enjoy it when i would never have listened to it on my own. well, the only exception being le hot club de france, a cd of whose was my favorite thing to play as i slept when i was around 8 years old, so only a decade ago! anyways, thanks again for being such a vigilant archivist and i wish you luck with your work! (especially after your old account's shutdown, which left me thoroughly devastated. i'm so glad that you're back on the horse again!!)

¡¡¡¡Bravo...!!!!
¡Qué maravilla!
P.s.: la voz de Freddie Taylor es algo parecida a la de Chet Baker, o viceversa.

1936 made for some great versions of this song. Check out Stuff Smith's hot version on Vocalion for example.

Are all of your uploads going into a playlist of some kind like your Hits by Years?

Django and Stéphane's is one of the most inspired, and inspiring, takes of this jazz staple. They just rip through it with such gusto, feeling and virtuosity. Freddie Taylor -- an obscurity in jazz, apart from his QHCF association -- makes an engaging Armstrong disciple.

?wow all those greats together, makes moi quiver & dart like a bird on the wing ?️? missing already xx

The label says "Recorded in Europe". Much like todays EU directives.

_I'se a Muggin'; I Can't Give You Anything But Love; After You've Gone; Nagasaki; Georgia on My Mind; Shine._ That's all, folks, there isn't anymore, these six songs constitute the collected recordings of Freddie Taylor with the QHCF. As any possible comment on these stupendous masters has already been made many times over, I thought I'd give you this bit of trivia.
