Review by Markus Zimmerman

The Russian Easter Liturgy album by the Russian Patriarchate Choir, directed by Anatoly Grindenko, is a masterpiece of choral music. The Easter Canon of St John Damascene, composed in the 17th century, is a powerful and moving piece of liturgical music that tells the story of Christ's resurrection.

The choir's performance is flawless, with each voice blending together to create a rich and harmonious sound. The soloists are particularly impressive, with their hauntingly beautiful voices soaring above the choir.

The album is recorded in a reverberant and spacious acoustic, which adds to the grandeur and majesty of the music. The listener is transported to a Russian Orthodox church, with the choir filling the space with their heavenly voices.
