Review by Fábio

The Savannah Syncopators have released their latest album, The Jackass Blues Deep Henderson, and it's a must-listen for fans of traditional jazz. The band's signature style of syncopation and improvisation is on full display, and they've added new elements to their sound that make this album stand out.

The album kicks off with the title track, "The Jackass Blues Deep Henderson," a rollicking tune that sets the tone for the rest of the record. The band's musicianship is impressive, with each member shining in their respective solos. The rhythm section is tight, and the horns are bright and lively.

Other standout tracks include "Savannah Stomp," a high-energy number that will get your toes tapping, and "Blues My Naughty Sweetie Gives to Me," a slower, more melancholic tune that showcases the band's emotional depth.

The Savannah Syncopators have done an excellent job of balancing tradition with innovation on this album. They've stayed true to the roots of jazz while also pushing the boundaries of the genre. The result is a fresh and exciting sound that will appeal to both longtime fans of the band and newcomers to the world of jazz.

To my mind, this is one of the best jazz records of all time, certainly one of Oliver's best. Because of the depth of feeling revealed here by all musicians, particularly by Oliver. But to hear this adequately, you have to pump up the jam. During Oliver's solos, I get the impression of "hearing" a colour: a deep, blueish black.
