Sonic Youth With Yamatsuka Eye - TV Shit

Review by Mohamad Sulton Hasanuddin

TV Shit is a collaborative album by Sonic Youth and Yamatsuka Eye, and it features some of the most intense and experimental music ever recorded. The album is a perfect example of the avant-garde noise rock that Sonic Youth is known for, and Eye's contributions add a layer of chaos and unpredictability to the mix.

The album opens with "TV Shit", a seven-minute track that sets the tone for the rest of the record. The song is a barrage of distorted guitars, pounding drums, and Eye's manic vocals. It's a challenging listen, but it's also an exhilarating one, as the band pushes the boundaries of what rock music can be.

Other standout tracks on the album include "In the Kingdom #19", which features a haunting melody and some of Thurston Moore's most beautiful guitar playing, and "Ninth Place", a relentless assault of noise and feedback that showcases the band's punk roots.

Back when this came out, I went into a record shop with a girl who I fancied at the time, saw this on display and asked to hear it. I loved it and bought it on the spot. She looked at me like I was a weirdo.

The world is a better place for this (and noise cancelling headphones). We all need our Yamatsuka moments once in awhile. ?
