T21's new order...After an unexpected comeback with the excellent "Happy Mystery Child" which reconnected with all the styles of the band but especially his own, a vision of pop music in the style of the definite "Works", here are our brothers from Valenciennes reboosted by big electric guitars and clear bass lines lifted from the latest New Order, the excellent "Get Ready". The question is: what to think of "Black Label"? It took me a long time to get back to it (10 years actually), and it's not Philippe's terribly French accent that helped me ... T21 cannot do again another anthemic"Last Song", neither an epic "Shift Away", nor an album as detailed as "Gohohako". Do they only have the means (financially speaking, at least)? Maybe more, actually. So here is a parenthesis, well produced certainly, but the inventiveness of the group is sorely lacking. But hey, you can always pick "The Camp", "Half A Drop", "Glistering Like Gold" and the ultimate "Lined Hands of the Afternoon" and try to forget that formerly, T21 NEVER printed the texts in the booklet, and it was far better that way...
