Ténèbres - Seigneurs des Ténèbres

Review by Matt Sicotte

Ténèbres' latest album, Seigneurs des Ténèbres, is a haunting and atmospheric journey through the depths of darkness. The French black metal band has created a sound that is both familiar and unique, with influences from classic black metal acts like Darkthrone and Burzum, as well as more modern bands like Mgła and Deathspell Omega.

The album's opening track, "L'Appel des Ténèbres," sets the tone with its slow, mournful guitar melodies and pummeling drum beats. The vocals are harsh and guttural, adding to the overall sense of despair and hopelessness. The following track, "Le Règne de la Terreur," is more aggressive and fast-paced, with razor-sharp riffs and blast beats that will leave listeners breathless.

Throughout the album, Ténèbres showcase their ability to create intricate and dynamic compositions that never lose sight of their dark and foreboding atmosphere. Tracks like "Le Chemin des Ombres" and "La Tombe des Anciens" are masterpieces of black metal songwriting, with shifting tempos, complex guitar harmonies, and haunting vocal melodies that will stay with listeners long after the album has ended.
