This version is a bit strange. Mixed down a bit, very few big reverbs on the drums ... and when we're talking about the instrumental - a quite dry almost straight mix, but with some insane delayed castanets and chord business. Like he was in two minds what audience he was aiming for.
Whoever mixed this version had talent for sure, but i have to say the Cha Cha 12" cut (esp the dub) edges it for me ;)

Where do I even begin! I love how this song sets Babylon's tone so well, I love how glitchy sounding the instrumentals are, I love how the drums sound through what i assume is reverb based mics in a studio(if anyone can tell me how its done specifically i woukd greatly appreciate it since im not a very electronic drummer but that sound genuinely captivates me), and I love this movie in general! I like how it really shows what was going in back then which for someone like me, a Jewish American born in the early 2003 who's never been to the UK, is eye opening and kept me glued to the story. The music also made the experience 10x better and I would rewind the movie a bunch to listen to the music throughout, especially with this song. Even though I already loved to both listen to and play Reggae(though it isnt my main genre), this movie greatly opened my eyes to how the culture was back then. 10/10 on this song and Babylon as a whole
The struggle was real back then, in London. I remember when they were filming Babylon in my neighborhood, it was very rough back then in Brixton on the back of the riots. The UK had the unfortunate title of "the sick man of Europe" Brings back so many memories, thanks for the upload. ???ୀ౧ୀౢୀୀ౮ୀ౧ୀ౿
