Review by Andie Katschthaler

Trilogy of Terror by War Cry is a heavy metal album that is sure to please fans of the genre. The album is a collection of three EPs, each with its own unique sound and style. The first EP, "The Summoning," features fast-paced, aggressive tracks with heavy guitar riffs and powerful vocals. The second EP, "The Possession," takes a more melodic approach, with haunting melodies and atmospheric instrumentals. Finally, the third EP, "The Exorcism," brings the album to a close with epic, symphonic tracks that showcase the band's technical skill and musical prowess.

About War Cry

American heavy metal band founded 1982 in Chicago, Illinois. In 1983, the band released their first demo, "Trilogy of Terror" which featured the songs; The Executioner, Wicked Warlock, and Forbidden Evil which also appeared on Metal Blade Records compilation Metal Massacre 4. The version of Forbidden Evil that appeared on MM4 was a new version recorded at Pierce Arrow Recorders in Chicago, Illinois. After the release bassist, Paul Speckmann left the band to pursue his interest in starting a thrash band. Before the genre "Death Metal" it was just considered very heavy. Paul Speckmann was one of the founders of what is now considered Death Metal, and his entity is "Master!" War Cry replaced Speckmann's position with the bands guitarist, Marty Fitzgerald's twin brother, Vince. Soon after, Marty Fitzgerald started writing more commercially accessible songs, which were a far cry from the earlier material that had given the band a reputation of one of the heavier bands in the underground. The band recorded a second demo that mirrored that change. Soon after the release, Singer/songwriter, Rich Rozek left after losing interest in the new direction. Bassist Vince Fitzgerald took over vocals. The band then dropped the name War Cry and changed their moniker to TommiGunn. The band moved from Chicago to Los Angeles. Former vocalist Rich Rozek started a band called Battalion. Years later, after hearing about TommiGunn was recording songs under Kelly's Heroes, TommiGunn, and even War Cry at least once to allow them to release several songs under the War Cry name on MySpace. The songs were so far from what War Cry had been that the heavy metal forums called it garbage. Rich Rozek heard about this in 2004, and he decided to take up the War Cry (US) name and promptly released a full-length CD called "Forbidden Evil." The release received high praise for bringing the War Cry songs and style back, but when Rich was ready to start pushing the release, he was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. Ten-years later, Rich Rozek's War Cry has returned to metal. They just played their first concert at Ragnarokkr Metal Apocalypse in Chicago on May 6, 2016 to rave revues. They were said to bring down the house! Now, they are in the studio recording their next release, "REGRESSION!" Rich is the only original member. Rounding out the group are ex-Tyrant's Reign members including guitarist Michael Giordano, bassist Phil Fouch, and Guitarist Karl Miller.

On May 6, 2016; my War Cry will be playing the Ragnarokkr Metal Apocalypse in Chicago at Reggies on s. State St. At 8:15 pm. We will be doing Trilogy of Terror "live!" I will be singing - the voice from the first demo, Trilogy and the 2nd demo (hence the parting of ways) and on Metal Massacre 4. I hope to see everybody there, as I conjure up the spirit of War Cry. In case you're wondering who's on the team, former members of Tyrant's Reign. So imagine the force of two titans on stage...amazing! Cheers - Rich R.

So, War Cry are playing this summer. Who will be singing? And by that I mean: The guy from the 1983 or the guy from the 1984 demo? :) I don't know which one of those demos you sang on, Rich.

Part 3 kudos or even a copy of album from TR? Anyway, I released some songs, managed a band called Dementia on Tombstone Records, started a metal magazine called Subculture, and was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. In 2006 I put out a release called War Cry.US - Forbidden Evil,a full-length release. I did it to prove to myself that I could still deal with this disease and write, sing, and such. The website will be up by Monday, April 13, 2015. You can purchase this there at www.warcry.us. Your money goes toward PD awareness. Also don't forget Paul's site, I'll have a link on there for those interested. Paul is still kick in' arse! Look out for my next release in July, a follow-up to Trilogy of Terror. Called Trilogy of Terror 2: Regressions! This is turning out great. Currently in pre-production. Cheers to one and all!

Thanks for all the good words. My apologies to all that have watched and like what we did on the first demo some 30 - odd years ago. Then our release of Forbidden Evil on MM4 - Thanks to Mr. Brian Slagel for that great opportunity. We also did another demo but Paul never appeared on that one, which took away much of the heavynes, if you will. Shortly after Mr. Speckmann left to start his conquest to bring his power to the masses worldwide, I left or was fired from the band (depending on your taste in music it was either one. I cal it a blessing in disguise

Part 2. Sorry, bloody pd. if you seen what happened to the band afterwards then it was a blessing. Not my type of music, but if TommiGunn made them happy, then good on them. Me? I started a band called Battalion with Tyrant's Reign drummer Gabe Anthony. We a demo called Deafcon 4 that included a song called Reign of Terror which I wrote and continued to play and in fact open their concerts with it; so I assume their fans like. I believe they released it too, but I don't really know if I got the proper

Know this awesome band since my late childohood and in more than twenty years i've never been able to find some more than their appeareance on Metal Massacre IV, not even on You Tube (i'm sure i checked later than feb. 2012,BTW,maybe some vids are not available in all countries as they're uploaded, or maybe i remember wrongly and last time i checked has been before feb 2012). So thank you! Does a compilation cd ONLY  of WarCry tracks (not other projects of Paul,Rich, or s1 else) exist out there?
