B W Stevenson's self-titled album is an impressive piece of work that showcases the singer-songwriter's unique voice and songwriting abilities. The album, which was released in 1972, features 10 tracks that range from upbeat country-rock tunes to heartfelt ballads.

The album's opening track, "My Maria", is a standout song that became a hit for Stevenson and was later covered by Brooks & Dunn. The song's infectious melody and Stevenson's soulful vocals make it a timeless classic.

Rest in Peace beautiful sound of Texas

Lovely cover of "Texas Morning"! Seems like only true native Texans can do it justice. :-) Mike Nesmith's version, released a year earlier in 1971, is great, too. On the album (Nevada Fighter), he seamlessly melds that last line, in his inimitable speak-singing, "the wind blows me, like a Dixie cup, down the highway..." into "Tumbling Tumbleweeds" - pure genius. You don't get that kind of seamlessness any more with individual cuts off the CD. Nesmith's version is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTsNmzxOLts

My parents had this album when I was seven. This song captured my imagination. I always wanted to know more about Cactus Jack. The atmosphere of this track is perfect. Three and a half minutes of cinema for your mind's eye.

I saw BW when he opened for 3 Dog Night in 1972. What a great performance it was. He was better than the headliners. I became a huge fan

Rest in peace, brilliant artist, BW STEVENSON. You were taken from this Earth too soon in life.

Sigh... I wish I'd seen him live. I did see Shake Russell, for some satisfying Texas music, but... B.W.
