Review by Tika Mustofa

Dexter Gordon's album "Those Were The Days" is a true masterpiece of jazz music. The album is a compilation of some of the best tracks from Gordon's earlier recordings, and it showcases his incredible talent as a saxophonist.

The album features a mix of original compositions and classic jazz standards, all of which are played with Gordon's signature style and soulful sound. The tracks are all beautifully arranged and performed, with each one showcasing Gordon's impressive technical skills and improvisational abilities.

From the upbeat swing of "Soy Califa" to the tender balladry of "Tanya," the album takes the listener on a journey through the many moods and styles of jazz. Gordon is joined by a talented group of musicians, including pianist Barry Harris, bassist Sam Jones, and drummer Al Foster, who all contribute to the album's rich and vibrant sound.

Dex just played (for me) one of the greatest blues solos of all-time and the audience reaction is near comatose??? At least Red Rodney got a reaction. Dex is the greatest of all time and any idiom.

This is what happens when a trumpet player is not original n copies Lee Morgan licks, note for note, and trys way to hard to sound like him, sry but no respect from me. Dexter sounds great tho!!!
