Review by Jason Courtoy

The Duquesne University Tamburitzans have released their latest album, From The Land Of The Tamburitza, and it is a masterpiece of traditional Balkan folk music. The album features a diverse range of songs and instrumental pieces that showcase the unique sound and style of the tamburitza, a stringed instrument that is a staple of Balkan music.

From the opening track, "Dance From Srbija," to the closing song, "Hajde Jano," the album is a celebration of the rich cultural heritage of the Balkans. The musicianship on display is exceptional, with each member of the Tamburitzans demonstrating their skill and passion for the music. The album also features guest appearances by renowned musicians such as Goran Alachki, who adds his virtuosic accordion playing to several tracks.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Kolo Naokolo," a lively dance tune that features intricate tamburitza melodies and driving rhythms. Another highlight is "Oj, Devojko," a hauntingly beautiful ballad that showcases the emotional depth of the tamburitza.
