About Lorenzo Leguizamón

Paraguayan harpist and composer born in Ybytymi in Aug/11/1924. He learned to play the harp (Arpa) in his hometown and began his professional career at the age of 16. He developed a distinguished career as an interpreter of the Paraguayan harp, next to the famous , with whom he worked for two and a half years until 1952, and then in Europe integrating different popular bands like Los Guaraníes, and others. He recorded numerous albums as soloist and with the , El Trío De Oro and . His recording career includes works on international labels Odeon, CBS, RCA Victor and Philips, in addition to the Paraguayan labels , , and . Author of more than 120 compositions among which are: Ybytymí, Ykua Potrero, Arpa Pu Rory, Kurukáu Veve, Ña Seve, Mi Abuelita, Karai Fermín, Chararã, A Mi Estrellita, Melgarejo Jeroky, Soldado del Chaco and others. After being hospitalized for a few days in the intensive care ward of the Military Hospital of Asunción, he died on the morning of Monday, 26 September 2005, at 81 years old.
