Review by TIBI ALEC

Neal Hefti's album "Lucky Duck Perdido" is a masterful work of jazz that captures the essence of swing and bebop. The album features Hefti's signature trumpet playing and his excellent arrangements that showcase his unique and innovative style.

The album opens with the upbeat and funky "Cute" which immediately sets the tone for the rest of the record. Hefti's trumpet playing in this track is soulful and melodic, and the rhythm section provides a solid foundation for the solos of the other instruments.

The title track "Lucky Duck Perdido" is a standout track that highlights Hefti's compositional skills. The track features a driving rhythm section and a catchy melody that will have listeners tapping their feet in no time.

Other highlights of the album include "Midnight Sun," a beautiful ballad that showcases Hefti's lyrical trumpet playing, and "The Good Earth," a fun and playful tune that features some excellent saxophone solos.
