About Paul Peterson
Date of Birth: 23rd September 1945, in Glendale, California.
Paul Petersen isn't the kind of artist who needs a very comprehensive retrospective collection, as in his brief career he scored one hit and only recorded a couple of albums. During his career, he recorded for Colpix Records, and Motown.
He is is an American movie actor, singer, novelist, and activist. Primarily known for his character-type roles in the 1960s and 1970s, as an adult Petersen established the organization A Minor Consideration to support child stars and other child laborers through legislation, family education, and personal intervention and counseling for those in crisis.
Petersen achieved fame in the 1960s, at an early age, by playing Donna Reed's son, Jeff Stone, on The Donna Reed Show. In the early 1980s, he also had a recurring role as a police officer on Matt Houston, and in the late 1990s, he played the author Paul Conway in the film Mommy's Day.
Petersen's fame brought recording offers and although his singing voice was limited, he had hit record singles with songs "She Can't Find Her Keys

This should have been released as a single instead of being the "B" side of the 45. It really deserved to be a big hit for Paul and Shelley. Anyhow, what a GREAT song that I have always enjoyed and thanks for sharing this in EXCELLENT audio quality!

Jimmy Savile recorded a version of the song with slightly differnt lyrics but it was a B side and wasn't a hit.
I haven't heard this song for about thirty years. Always loved it. Great production on this record. Thanks for posting it.

Wow, that is the greatest pop song ever written! Forget all those English groups with funny names like Beatles and Rolling Stones, this is the real deal! Why isn't Paul Peterson's musical career talked about more in the history books? I mean, Bob Dylan and Neil Diamond are okay, but nobody has ever captured what it's like to be a rosy-cheeked American teenager like this guy!
To think that this untalented moron had the unmitigated nerve to slag off The Beatles while at the same time releasing cheesy and utterly banal rubbish like this forgettable dirge.

I just discovered reruns of the Donna Reed show. Just a delight!
Wow.... I'd like todays rappers or singers to sing something so sweet and kind. Instead of "clapping my butt cheeks til the sun comes up" and "twerking my man to death"
I was feeling nostalgic and strolling down memory lane. As a small girl I had a crush on "Jeff Stone" and "Mark McCain". (Paul Peterson and Johnny Crawford). My older sister had this song on a 45 record and also, Johnny Crawford's Something Special/Cindy's Birthday. We played them a LOT. I am happily surprised that I could still sing along with this song and remembered all of the lyrics! I still think Paul is so darn cute.
Paul Petersen had a far greater impact than he knows. He sang the popular song "My Dad" on The Donna Reed Show in 1962. The song's high popularity was significant given that World War II vets now had teenaged children, the babyboomers. Having babies and very young children was very healing for the WWII vets. As children grew and reached the difficult teen years, it's highly probable that the vets felt lonely and unneeded. Paul's song rekindled respect and warmth for the vet dads. Our nation thanks you, Paul. Well done!
