This is about the most perfect song for our modern times...
OH NO FAIR! I have the 45 of the Kindergarden Song (posted on my channel - not a plug but feel free to look) and the flip is this but an INSTRUMENTAL version. What is the flip side of this? Kindergarden Song but as an instrumental?
had the outhouse daze album with this song. loved this album!
My grandparents were exceptionally cool and took me to eat dinner at one of those bar n grills common in the 80s where the old timers (mostly WWII vets I imagine then) would tip back a few. Pretty decent place, really. They had this on the jukebox there, and yes they indulged my young ears. Now my little boy almost passed out from laughing at it before bed. Thanks for this!
Outhouse Daze was a cassette tape my dad had back in the 80's and it had a bunch of hilarious songs like this one. One I remember was "No Way Grady"...a song I probably shouldn't have been listening to at that age LOL! I'd like to either find my dad's tape or stumble upon more songs from Outhouse Daze on YouTube! The internet seems to be slim pickins on Tom Lane's material. This was a great find! Thanks so much for uploading!!!
No problem. I get a call/text one day from a friend asking about this song (the one in the dedication) and I posted it ASAP. The flip side is the Donut Song (instrumental) but just found out now that there is a vocal version - funny. Put Tom Lane Donut Song in the search and you will see a label that looks like this record. I would like to find the rest that Diane eludes to in another post on here.
I found a reference on the net to an album called "Outhouse Daze" made in 1981. It's gotta be him. Also I found a couple of singles of the song "Little green lady" on ebay. I think I remember it being on that tape I mentioned. I feel like Al Bundy in that one episode of Married with Children where he's just trying to find a 45' with his song on it. lol
sweet bails of hay!
Been looking for this since the 90's. Someone made a mix tape I found at a flea market. Never knew who actually sang this till right now. Thanks for the info. Wish this guy had a wiki page or something.
Did he have an LP or do I have to hunt down other singles. I love the reaction when I play this song for people! He should do (if still alive) a propler remaster for LP and CD for a whole new generation.
Tom Lane is from Nashville, IL. I used to listen to the album all the time in the late 70's. Yes, there are 10-11 more songs out there that Tom did. One song is as good as the next!!!!!! I was so happy to find 4 of his songs on You Tube!!!!!!!
